Walk report, 15th November 2009

John Harris led ten of our members on a walk from the Ship Inn, Wincle. Just before we started the heavens opened, but thankfully the rain soon stopped and there was no more all morning, the weather being sunny and clear. We climbed the stile almost opposite the pub, and crossed the fields to Wincle Grange. Walking along the ridge-top lane in brilliant sunshine we enjoyed extensive views over the autumnal trees across to Wincle Minn, before turning left and descending below the tree line into Greasley Hollow. Those of us wearing wellingtons were pleased we'd made that choice - the mud was horrendous!

We climbed out of Greasley Hollow to Nettlebeds, views to The Roaches and Hen Cloud opening up as we climbed. Turning south, we joined the Gritstone Trail at the ruined cottage of Dumkins. A left turn over a stile took us across the fields to Whitelee Farm, whose drive we followed back to Wincle, and a welcome pint in The Ship.
